What we've been up to ...
The last half term flew by and we have a feeling this one will too. It won't be long before we will in the throws of easter eggs and bunnies! Hopefully all the snow has finished and this term will see some warm, spring like weather, as we have recieved our potato planting kits and are anxious to start using the garden area more again. While our bulbs we planted last autumn should be growing, we hope to plant out our raised flower bed again with the children and teach them about how things grow in the garden.
Last term saw the roleplay corner turn into an opticians for a week, where the children had great fun trying on many glasses kindly donated from one of the local opticians. The children did some non-cook cooking last half term too, making chocolate birds nests with shredded wheat and melted chocolate. As well as the usual arts and craft activities that go on, the children did some junk modeling which proved popular with some fantastic creations going home. We have also made the new musical instuments more accessible which the children having had a whale of a time playing with all the new things, (the rain sticks, bongos and bells in particular!) .
We have been busy unpacking and using our new equipment. Some of you may have noticed the new maths things which we feel will greatly enrich the children's learning while making it far more fun. Our" nature and world about us" area now has a new draw unit filled with many interesting items from bark and shells to viewers and prisms. We have some wonderful I.T equipment that the children will be able to record their voices on, make a recording about a picture they have created and many other things too. We will be using our "Bee Bot" again this half term as that was a huge hit with some of our children.
See you at playgroup!
We are collecting Sainsbury's Active Kids Vouchers again so please feel free to post any you have into our collection box.
