LORD HOWE BECOMES HON. PATRON OF COAT!

We're really pleased to announce that Lord Howe - better know to all locally as Sir Geoffrey Howe - has kindly consented to become Honorary Patron of COAT.

Lord Howe was MP for East Surrey for many years before moving out of the area, but has retained a keen interest on what goes on in Caterham as it was in his constituency for such a long time.

In fact Lord Howe was involved with COAT in its early years in the 80's so he has really come full circle!!

Caterham Overseas Aid Trust (COAT) has since its formation in 1981 raised over £250,000 to help people in poverty in third world countries help themselves via agencies working on the ground e.g. Water Aid, Harvest Help, VSO, Tools for Self-Reliance, Sightsavers, Practical Action............

COAT is run entirely by an enthusiastic band of local volunteers, and draws much support from local Churches. COAT is one of nine such organisations in the South-east of England, all charged with same mission statement - to help poorer people in third-world countries to help themselves and improve their lives.

And our thanks to...........

The COAT committee would like to sincerely thank the Surrey Community website for providing hosting and web design facilities, and Jason Lawes for the redesign of the COAT logo.
